Twitter/X is in chaos, Reddit had its API drama, Facebook is... Facebook.
Are we witnessing the death of traditional social media? It seems like the model of "maximize engagement at all costs" is finally showing its cracks.
What I think we need:
Platforms that prioritize quality over quantity
Real ownership of our data and content
Communities over algorithms
Transparency in how content is ranked
Thoughts?
User questions whether traditional social media is dying due to recent platform issues and proposes alternatives focused on quality content, data ownership, community-driven experiences, and transparent algorithms over engagement-maximizing models.
I dont think traditional social media is dying, but I do think were seeing a shift toward more intentional, community-focused platforms. The era of one app to rule them all might be ending.
