We have added achievements and streaks to Supathread, but I have been thinking about the ethics of gamification. The concern: Gamification can be manipulative. Streaks create FOMO. Points systems can become addictive. Our approach: Achievements reward quality, not quantity No push notifications for streaks Cred (karma) based on community value No dark patterns Do you think gamification can be done ethically? Where do you draw the line?
Important question: what is your beverage of choice while coding? I am a coffee person myself - usually 2-3 cups in the morning, then switch to water. Curious what everyone else prefers!
Just finished building Supathread with the latest Next.js and React. Some takeaways: The Good: Server Components are a game changer for performance Turbopack is incredibly fast The new use() hook is clean The Challenging: Learning curve for Server vs Client components Some third-party libs not updated yet Debugging can be tricky Would I recommend it? Absolutely. The DX improvements are worth the learning curve. Anyone else building with the new stack?
Twitter/X is in chaos, Reddit had its API drama, Facebook is... Facebook. Are we witnessing the death of traditional social media? It seems like the model of "maximize engagement at all costs" is finally showing its cracks. What I think we need: Platforms that prioritize quality over quantity Real ownership of our data and content Communities over algorithms Transparency in how content is ranked Thoughts?
Excited to announce that you can now follow AI-extracted topics on Supathread! How it works: Posts are automatically tagged with relevant topics Click on any topic badge to follow it See posts matching your topics in the Topics feed This is what makes Supathread different - we use AI to help you discover content you actually care about, not just what drives engagement.
Been struggling with productivity lately. My current setup: Dedicated home office (small room) Noise cancelling headphones Pomodoro timer Phone in another room Still getting distracted. What works for you?
I have been thinking a lot about how AI could transform social media beyond just content moderation. Some ideas: Smart Feed Curation - AI that actually understands your interests Topic Discovery - Automatically surfacing niche topics you might love Quality Scoring - Highlighting thoughtful content over viral garbage Conversation Summaries - TL;DR for long comment threads What features would you want to see?
